Success Story!

HTFF embarked on its mission in August 2020, with the goal of serving up to 100 elderly and vulnerable children per year. Thanks to your kind and generous support, we not only met our target but exceeded it significantly. Despite facing challenges posed by COVID-19, fire damage, and drought, we reached an astounding 800 people in just one year!

Here’s a breakdown of our impactful work since 2020:

  1. Long-Term Program:
    • 104 elders and vulnerable children were administered through our partnership with the Abune Zena Markos Association in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
  2. COVID-19 Relief Initiative (2020):
    • The global pandemic hit hard, affecting a homeless shelter in Harar where 90 children resided. Community support dwindled, and fear of contracting the virus gripped everyone.
    • HTFF stepped in:
      • We donated $2,500.00 (90,954.50 ETB) for September and $2,400.00 (90,848.64 ETB) for December expenses.
      • This covered two months’ worth of essential supplies—food, sanitation, and medical necessities—for the children.
      • Additionally, we purchased a delivery vehicle for $5,000.00 (Bajaj) to help the shelter become self-sustaining, contributing to 1/3 of its income.
  3. Waldeba Monastery Support (2021):
    • Amid internal turmoil, approximately 250 elders at the Waldeba monastery faced starvation.
    • HTFF stepped up:
      • We provided them with six months’ worth of food, ensuring their well-being.
  4. Asebot Monastery Assistance (2021):
    • The Asebot monastery had been devastated by fire.
    • HTFF extended its support:
      • We supplied them with three months’ worth of food, aiding their recovery.
  5. Debre Birhan Camp Assistance (2022):
    • Purchased 150 mattresses and blankets for war displaced elderly and mothers that gave birth recently.
    • Provided breakfast to over 100 displaced children for two weeks.
  6. Building of Shelter for Orphans and Elders (2022-2023):
    • HTFF partnered with the Niku Yeneseha Merkeb Association to build a shelter at Shenkora Yohannes, capable of accommodating up to 100 orphans and elderly individuals. Construction was completed in July 2023.

Through these endeavors, we strive to restore dignity and improve the quality of life for Ethiopia’s elderly population and vulnerable children. Your continued support makes all the difference!
